Thanks for stopping by. If you are looking for a supportive, welcoming, family-oriented neighborhood church, you've come to the right place! Whether you are a first-time guest, repeat guest, or a member of our continually growing congregation, you will feel welcome and right at home here. Please feel free to look around our site and then come and join us for Christian fellowship and worship.
We also use this site as an " at your fingertip" source of information to help our members keep up to date on the specific happenings in the church.

Please see the News Page for upcoming NewComers class dates. The NewComers class is for current members, prospective members, or anyone interested. It covers our scriptural and Methodist heritage, and helps people integrate into the life and ministries of this local United Methodist church.
As of February 2009, we have 512 members, plus an additional 57 baptized members (baptized children and youth under the age of 19), 6 associate members, and 8 affiliate members who maintain membership in a church in another community. We had 37 new members join the church in 2008.”
How to become a member of UCUMC
To become a member of our church, you may:
1. Transfer your membership from another United Methodist Church; or
2. Transfer your membership from another denomination; or
3. Profess your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the first time and become a member of the church. If you have not been baptized, you would also be baptized at this time.
Please call/email Senior Pastor Myron Ricketts or Associate Pastor Phillip Hefner at 659-5555 to discuss your interest in becoming a member. We ask all who may be interested in membership at UCUMC to attend a 4 session new member class, held one month every quarter. Following that quarter's classes, we have a Membership Sunday on which new members join at the service of their choice. The classes are taught by our pastors and cover church history, United Methodist doctrine, the Social Principles, and the meaning of membership at UCUMC. Mentors also assist new members in becoming familiar with and involved in the church.
Vision
We have adopted the Southwest Texas Conference vision of Offering Christ to All.

Mission Statement
We recently adopted a new mission statement (January 2009). Our mission has not changed; we simply wrote a new, shorter, and hopefully, more memorable statement. It incorporates a portion of the United Methodist Church statement and our emphases on witness, outreach, and nurture. Our mission statement is:
Making Disciples of Jesus Christ through Witness, Outreach, and Nurture
Sunday School Classes include Scripture studies and crafts for each age level as follows:
Our beliefs are based on scripture, our traditions, experience and reason.
Scripture has revealed to us the living God in the doctrine of the Trinity, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We recognize the two sacraments ordained by Christ, Baptism and the Lord's Supper. These sacraments are outward and visible signs of an inward and spiritual grace.
We have inherited a rich and varied tradition that has evolved into a diverse unity rather than a rigid uniformity. We confront the social, spiritual, and moral issues of the day by thoughtful debate with open minds. We believe that all truth comes from God and recognize empirical knowledge and scientific discoveries as part of God's world. We use reason and logic that God has given us in all matters of faith . Our own life experiences bring us to a greater understanding of God's truths as revealed in scripture.
We believe that the faith that we profess should be confirmed by the work we do in God's kingdom here on earth. Faith and works are therefore inseparable. We believe that grace is an unmerited, undeserved gift of God's love that is necessary for us to experience the life that God has for us. Saying “yes” to this grace leads us into both a new life and a new identity. We believe in the power of prayer, that God listens to our prayers and that he answers in accordance with his will.
We believe in an inclusive church and welcome all people who are seeking the fellowship we have with one another and with God. While we worship in our church, the walls of our church do not define our church. We know the Kingdom of God extends throughout the world and our ministries include not only worship but also evangelism, stewardship, education and missions.
While we use liturgies in our worship that include traditional creeds, we believe that our living God cannot be contained or reduced to a creed. The historic creeds contain the truths that are testimonies of our heritage and we believe these truths can be restated in new forms of worship in our modern world.
