Running For Christ (102)
Have you ever heard someone say "I had a calling from God"? Did you ever wonder how they felt and what prompted them to finally react to that calling?
I've had this theme "Running For Christ" on my mind for a couple of years -- but it wasn't until I attended the Women of Faith conference in San Antonio,Texas this year (2007) that I felt it was not just an idea in my head -- it is a calling from God. I feel sure God is leading me to use my love of running as a way to lead others to him.
What's ironic -- is that I'm NOT a good runner. I've run for years for personal enjoyment and health, but I'm about as slow as they come. I have set goals over the years and run several organized events --including 3 marathons, but I've never been anywhere near the front of the pack. I just take it a step at a time and rejoice each day I'm up for a run. For me personally, running is a time for reflection and praying. Whether it's a sunny day or a cloudy day -- I look towards the heavens and feel God's presence all around.
Everyone has trials and tribulations in their lives -- some more drastic than others -- but it's something we all have to deal with. I can't tell you how many times I've gone for a run and felt like God was looking over me. But, there was one time in particular that changed my life. I was out running early one morning by myself (o-dark thirty) and only got a couple of blocks from the house and began sobbing uncontrollably. My husband was going through a bone marrow transplant at the time (actually, his 2nd transplant) and our daughter was heading off to college -- and it all became overwhelming. I prayed to God that he would give me the strength to get through everything. All of the sudden I felt God touch both of my arms and lift me up and carry me along. He let me know he was there with me would hold me up and give me the strength to get through any trial or tribulation put before me. It's hard to explain how real it was -- but if you've ever had someone reach out and grab your arm and their hands felt cold on your skin -- that is the sensation I felt -- but with a comforting sensation that went through my body.
Stepping out with this website is my very first endeavor towards reacting to God's calling. I pray God will continue to guide and lead my efforts and that by doing so, it will bring others to know Him and his son, Jesus.
Please feel free to email me at shelley@runningforchrist.com -- Blessings to all !

Salt and Light Foundation (77)
The Salt and Light Foundation believes that children learn better in a safe environment where faith in God, honoring parents, respecting authority, having patience, showing kindness, practicing self-control, and caring about others is confirmed by example. This is an environment where every child is made to feel they have value and purpose and an environment where the name of Jesus is not prohibited.
The Salt and Light Foundation is not affiliated with a particular church or denomination, but we are a part of the body of Christ and the Kingdom of God and we serve the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.
In Habakkuk 2:2, the Lord tells us to write the vision down so that one who reads it may run with it. The vision to help as many children as possible attend Christian schools was given to us in April 2009 and we trust in God for provision to accomplish the mission.
The Foundation raises funds through donations, fundraising events, and our website store, which sells children’s books, Christian t-shirts, artist’s prints, and many more original items created for and sold exclusively by Salt and Light Foundation.
We pray that you believe in this mission in helping children and families lead a very loving, devoted Christian life.
